Greetings, my name is John Mansur. You can call me John. My wife Jennifer and I live in Kokomo, Indiana. Jennifer is originally from Greensburg, Indiana. She and I have been married for over forty years. Jennifer currently works as a teacher’s aide for grades K-4 at Taylor Primary School. We have an autistic son, Michael, age 35, who lives with us and an artistic daughter, Laura, age 32, who lives in Chicago teaching dance and gymnastics. Jennifer and Laura are both Ball State graduates.
I grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. Our family went to Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches in my hometown. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology in 1978 and a master’s degree from Purdue University in 1993.
I have been a United Methodist since 1982 and Jennifer is a lifelong Methodist. In 2007, I started serving as pulpit supply at small, rural United Methodist Churches in north central Indiana. During that time, I filled in at 28 different churches and have served five churches under appointment in the Indiana Conference. I have been under appointment since 2017, completed License to Preach in 2018, and completed Course of Study in 2025. Prior to being appointed to Peru Main Street I pastored two small churches, Windfall United Methodist Church in Tipton County (since 2019) and Parkview United Methodist Church in Miami County (since 2023). This year marks the 173rd year since the Windfall church was established as part of a circuit which included Tipton, Clinton, and Howard Counties. I also serve as the Chair of the Board of Church Location and Building as part of the District Strategy Team for the West Central Plains District.
I formerly worked as an engineer in information technology as a solutions architect for engineering, manufacturing, and business disciplines. After forty-four years and eight months with my former company and over forty-seven years in industry, I retired in December of 2025. My hobbies include amateur radio, call sign KC9NNH, and fishing. I am at home in the woods or hills especially if there is a trout stream nearby. I am a severe weather spotter in Howard County. An interesting item is that I previously worked in the nuclear industry. No, I do not glow in the dark if you turn out the lights.
