Located at 81 West Main Street on the corner of Main Street and Cass Street in historic downtown Peru, Indiana, Main Street United Methodist Church has been serving our community for generations. Our beautiful church building is one of the oldest churches in Peru, rich in history while embracing the present with meaningful, engaging worship.

At Main Street UMC, you’ll find a welcoming congregation where everyone is invited to come just as you are. Whether you prefer your Sunday best or comfortable casual attire, you’ll be greeted with a warm smile and made to feel at home.

Our Sunday worship service begins at 9:00 a.m. and blends the richness of traditional worship with contemporary elements that inspire and engage people of all ages. Music is an important part of our worship, featuring our talented Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Both choirs are open to anyone who enjoys sharing their musical gifts, regardless of experience.

Children are an important part of our church family. During each worship service, we invite children forward for Focus on the Children, a brief children’s message before they return to worship with their families. On all Sundays except the first Sunday of the month, children are also invited to attend Children’s Church, where they enjoy age-appropriate Bible lessons and activities during the sermon.

Following worship, there are opportunities for continued learning and fellowship. Adults are invited to gather in Fellowship Hall for Sunday School, while junior high and senior high youth enjoy their own classes designed especially for them.

One of our favorite traditions is the time we spend together before and after worship. We invite everyone to enjoy coffee, cookies, and conversation in the back of the sanctuary—a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.

Throughout the year, Main Street UMC is bustling with ministry and community events. From our popular Nelson’s Chicken Sales, Annual Chicken Noodle Dinner, and Community Rummage Sale to seasonal celebrations, mission projects, and fellowship activities, there is always something happening. We encourage everyone in our community to join us and experience the warmth and hospitality that make Main Street UMC so special.
