I love to read and have a lifelong love of books encouraged by my mother, who taught me to read before I entered kindergarten. I also love plays and movies, which was encouraged by my grandmother who took my sister and me to live performances in Indianapolis and Kokomo from the time we were very small. I also love to write and paint. I’m not sure how fun these are, but they are fun for me!

God has always helped me through difficult times. He was there for me when my parents and first husband died. My husband Leon and I both believe he helped us find each other when we were each so lonely. Jesus is my example of how I would like to live my life. I cannot be as perfect as Jesus, but I can try.

I have four wonderful children (all adults) and seven terrific grandchildren. My husband Leon has two children and three grandchildren. Our family is very precious to us.

Music has always been my passion as well as my profession. I have two music degrees and continue to teach piano lessons and early childhood music classes. Working with the church Chancel Choir, Jubilation Bells, Carillon Quartet, and children has been extremely fulfilling. I have always been a Methodist. Though my first church was the First United Methodist Church in Glen Ellen, IL, I love now being a part of the church my grandparents were members of and my parents were married in.

I began attending Main Street in 2001 although I attended youth group back in the 80s with a friend. I was looking for a church to get my children involved in and remembered my time at Main Street when I was a teen. I decided to visit and felt immediately at home. Over the years, I volunteered for many youth and church events including youth group and Vacation Bible School. In 2016, I was offered the position of youth director and decided to try it out. I enjoy Main Street immensely and value the friends I have made over the years. My full time career is teaching Head Start at Elmwood Primary Learning Center which I have done for 23 years.  I have been married to my husband, Kevin, for almost 30 years and we have three children, Jared, Baylie and Brandon. We also have a 14 year old dog named Lucy and four grand-dogs, Kipper, Margo, Leilani and Lady.

Hello, my name is Rhonda Butzin and I am an Asst. Preschool teacher at Main Street Preschool. I have been employed at the preschool since 2014 and I just love it. Before working with children, I spent 26 years in the medical field assisting patients and doctors. I am a mother of boys, twin 12 year olds and a 32 year old. My twins attended the preschool prior to me joining the team.

I am currently the teacher for our Ladybug preschool class and I assist in the other preschool class and preK classes. I believe that some of the most important skills to have when working with little children is patience, flexibility and love. It is very rewarding to see or hear one of your students use the skills you have taught them and see the excitement on their faces.

I am very proud of my little friends every day and am very happy to be one of their teachers and be given the opportunity to watch them grow.

Hello. My name is Jessica Rasmussen. I am a mom of two children. I have an 11-year old boy and a 7-year old girl. We also have two dogs. I’ve been married to my husband for 14 years. I love working here at Main Street Preschool. We have the best kids and parents. Before working here, I worked in a daycare for nine years, so I have always worked with kids. I love watching them grow and learn.
